Katie Harroff
Founding Executive Artistic Director & Core Devising Playwright
Katie Harroff (she/they) is a playwright, producer, director, actor, and community-engaged theatre artist whose work transforms real stories and familiar places into original performance experiences.
Katie created the first San Diego, I Love You in 2013 through Circle Circle dot dot, the community-based theatre company she founded in San Diego. The project became an evolving series of site-specific productions exploring romance, identity, memory, and belonging through the stories of local residents.
She recently served as Artist-in-Residence and Director of Engagement at the Folger Shakespeare Library. Previously, she was Associate Director of Arts Engagement at The Old Globe, where she developed community playwriting programs, participatory performances, public events, and new ways for nonprofessional artists to tell their own stories.
Her work includes documentary theatre, installation, immersive and site-specific performance, digital storytelling, and community-centered artistic residencies. Across every form, Katie’s practice begins with listening and with the conviction that extraordinary theatre can emerge from the experiences of ordinary life.
Nadia Guevara
Nadia Guevara (she/they) is a bilingual theatre director, producer, and arts leader whose work spans new plays, classical adaptation, public programming, and community-centered performance.
As Associate Artistic Director and Producer of The I Love You Plays, Nadia supports the project’s artistic strategy, production, partnerships, and continued development as the series expands into new communities, as well as serving as a devising playwright. Her directing practice is guided by humor, sensuality, irreverence, and theatricality, with relationship at the center of the storytelling process.

The core leadership works alongside a locally assembled team of producers, directors, teaching artists, playwrights, actors, designers, stage managers, audience guides, community partners, participating businesses, and cultural organizations.
That collaborative structure allows every production to retain the artistic identity of The I Love You Plays while reflecting the specific character, knowledge, humor, history, and imagination of its community.
